Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has ordered an immediate ban on the operations of commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada, within Umuahia, the State capital, and Aba Metropolis.
According to a statement released on Sunday, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Kazie Uko, the ban takes effect from Monday, August 14, 2023 (today).

It warned that “any motorcycle seen on the streets of Umuahia and Aba being used for such purpose will be impounded by the security agencies.”
It said that security agencies in the state have been directed to arrest any individual caught violating the order, “for possible prosecution.”
“This directive takes immediate effect,” the statement added.
