FUTMINNA Launches Hi-tech Payment Platform

IN a bid to digitize all monetary transactions, the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has created a cutting-edge electronic receipt platform for student related payments.

The payment platform which was developed by the University’s Information Technology Services (ITS), was the latest drive for digitization of transactions in the institution to enable both undergraduate and postgraduate students process payments online and generate electronic receipts.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Bala who formally launched the platform on Thursday at the institution’s Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano, said the newly developed e-receipt platform was consistent with the mission of his administration to ensure that all financial transactions in the University are automated for transparency, accountability and ease of stress for students during payment transactions.

He said, “As a University of Technology, we should be seen to be deploying technology in all of the things that we do. Also, the idea of students rushing to the Senate building each time because of one transaction or the other is largely being checkmated by the deployment of Financial Officers to the various Schools, Departments, Directorates, Centres and Units.”

Bala noted that the platform would enable the Bursary staff to have summary information of every payment transactions by having access to the platform through their computer network system.

The Vice Chancellor commended the Bursar of the institution, Mrs. Hadiza Goje and the Director of ITS, Prof. Mohammed Adamu for spearheading the creation of the platform.

Prof Adamu who sensitized the Bursary Department staff on how to use the platform, remarked that the platform would enhance efficiency and save time for the Bursary Department staff, adding that the e-receipt platform was in line with global best practices.

Adamu stated that the Bursary Department staff can access the platform from anywhere in the world to verify all students charges with just a click of the button, adding that the platform has security features which would make it difficult for anyone to compromise it.

Goje noted that the platform apart from enhancing efficiency, time saving, would also reduce wastage and promote accountability.

She disclosed that all e-receipts that would be issued to students henceforth through the platform would have unique authentication features to ease the process of verification by staff of the Department.

The features of the e-receipt platform include acceptance fee payment, registration for new and returning undergraduate and postgraduate students, e-receipt for transcript, certificates and other charges.
