Former Nigeria Vice President and the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar on Monday revealed that he is a big fan of the Super Falcons after their 4-2 loss against England in a round of 16 clash at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team coached by Randy Waldrum held the Three Lionesses to a scoreless draw after 120 minutes of spellbinding game but the European champions triumphed after winning 4-2 on penalties.

Atiku is an avid Arsenal supporter in the men’s game but took time off to cheer the impressive former African champions who could not pounce on the numerical advantage over England following the red card to Lauren James for a violent conduct.

Atiku affectionately known as the ‘Turaki Adamawa’ noted that he skipped his breakfast in a bid to catch every single minute of action on Monday morning.

The onetime high ranking officer of the Nigeria Customs Service took to his Twitter account to give plaudits to the Falcons.

“We may have lost to England in a penalty shootout, but the @NGSuper_Falcons have every reason to hold their heads high. I still have no regrets about skipping my breakfast for this game. #ENGNGR #FIFAWWC -AA

On Saturday, August 12, England will play the winner of the Colombia versus Jamaica clash. The two teams meet on Tuesday for a place in the quarterfinals.
