2023 Afrobasket: Defending Champions D’Tigress Beats Rwanda, Reaches Final

D’Tigress of Nigeria on Thursday evening booked a place in the final of the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship in Rwanda after beating the hosts 79 – 48 in one of the semifinals games.

The qualification to the final of the biannual tournament is the fourth in succession for the Nigerian women’s team who are the current African champions.

Nigeria won three out of the four quarters, the first quarter ending 22 – 2 while the second finished 22 – 12. Rwanda rallied back to win the third quarter 17 – 14.

D’Tigress completed the tie in style in the fourth quarter with a 21 – 13 win.

Rena Wakama-led side will face the winner between Senegal and Mali in the final on Saturday.
