Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is set to be unveiled tonight (Wednesday) as a player of Saudi Arabian side, Al Ettifaq on a three-year deal worth an eye-watering £712k per week.

With the huge spendings not looking likely to end anytime soon, Liverpool are now set to lose their charismatic leader on the pitch after previously being hesitant to sell with a select group of supporters opposing the sale of ‘Hendo’ to a club in the Saudi Arabian league.

Liverpool, according to media reports in the English media, are set to receive £12m plus add-ons from the deal as the documents are expected to be signed in a few hours.

The midfielder is currently in Croatia with his representatives and it ends an era between player and club that saw him make 492 appearances, scored 39 goals with 74 assists to boot.

England international, Henderson, also won eight titles with the Reds.

The club is expected to bid again for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia after initial bids for the youngster were turned down by the Saints.
