Over N7.14bn Shares Traded, Cadbury Tops Stock Market Decliners’ List

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the capital market authority, reported that the stock market capitalisation settled at N35.74 trillion on Wednesday.

According to data obtained from the capital market authority, the All-Share Index settled at 65,687.16 ASI, as over 500.43 million shares were exchanged in 7,345 deals, worth N7.14 billion.

Top five gainers

  • NCR’s share appreciated by N0.36 kobo to rise from N3.60 kobo to N3.96 kobo per share.    
  • Courtville grew by 10 per cent, up from N0.60 kobo to N0.66 kobo per share.    
  • Seplat ended trading with N1693.60 kobo from N1539.70 kobo per share, rising by N153.90 kobo.    
  • FTN Cocoa gained N0.24 kobo to end trading at N2.66 kobo, having opened with N2.42 kobo per share.     
  • Japaul Gold’s stock was up by N0.10 kobo, closing at N1.11 kobo from N1.01 per share.    

Top five losers 

  • Cadbury depreciated by N1.70 kobo, dwindling from N17 to N15.30 kobo per share.      
  • Unilever also declined by N1.75 kobo to end trading at N15.75 kobo, after opening at N17.50 kobo per share.      
  • Multiverse followed the same path, losing N0.30 kobo after trading hours, to sell at N2.71 kobo from N3.01 per share.      
  • Omatek reported a decline of 9.62 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.52 kobo to end trading at N0.47 kobo per share.      
  • Champion Brew’s share depreciated to N3.48 kobo from N3.76 kobo, after losing N0.28 kobo during trading hours.    

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • UBA reported 58.30 million shares, valued at N871.35 million, were traded on its floor.      
  • Access Corporation recorded 55.24 million shares valued at N991.19 million.    
  • Universal Insurance saw investors trade 32.66 million shares valued at N7.63 million.    
  • FBN Holdings recorded 28.02 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N590.51 million.    
  • Zenith Bank reported 26.47 million shares, valued at N933.51 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
