Billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk, has introduced a novel feature in Twitter, that offers users a share of  advertisements displayed when their profiles are accessed by others.

This development marks a significant extension of Twitter’s existing monetization program.

However, it is vital to note that this exclusive offer is specifically targeted at verified users, as clarified by Musk himself. The prospective beneficiaries of this innovative monetization scheme are creators on Twitter who are already receiving remuneration for the impressions garnered by their content. Musk, the mastermind behind Twitter, has boldly asserted that the implementation of this new program will lead to a dual payout for these content creators, augmenting their financial gains.

Seizing the opportunity to entice a greater number of users to seek verification status, Musk emphasized that several accounts on Twitter could potentially reap thousands of dollars in financial rewards should they successfully obtain the coveted blue tick of verification.

In an official announcement conveyed through a tweet, Musk expounded on the forthcoming monetization plan with the following words:

“In the near future, you shall also be compensated for ads displayed when others peruse your profile page, effectively doubling the total payouts.”

“The potential for numerous accounts on this platform to amass thousands of dollars per month in advertising revenue sharing will be realized once they become verified subscribers!”

Recently, Twitter initiated its intended ad revenue sharing program with content creators, an initiative that has already seen numerous creators in the United States being financially compensated with substantial sums, contingent on the number of impressions generated by their posts. This initiative involves the platform compensating creators with a share of the ad revenue garnered from advertisements served in response to their posts.

Eligibility for participation in this lucrative endeavor necessitates users’ subscription to Twitter Blue and the accumulation of over 5 million tweet impressions per month for three consecutive months. It is on these criteria that Musk expounded, while also revealing that the first round of creator payouts would cumulatively amount to $5 million, dating back to February, with the disbursements being facilitated through the reputable payment platform, Stripe.

Furthermore, in a demonstration of its commitment to inclusivity and responding to burgeoning global interest, Twitter is broadening the scope of its monetization program to encompass content creators from across the world. The company reported an overwhelming surge in interest from creators hailing from diverse geographical locations.

According to the official statement by the company, eligible creators will automatically be able to partake in the ads revenue sharing program upon its launch, provided they have set up the requisite payout methods. The program is slated to operate alongside creator subscriptions as a supplementary component within Twitter’s comprehensive monetization offering.

Eligibility for the aforementioned payouts mandates content creators to either subscribe to Twitter Blue or possess verified organizational status. Additionally, such creators must have achieved a minimum of 5 million impressions on their posts during each of the last three months, in addition to successfully passing a human review based on Twitter’s Creator Monetization Standards.

As the program enters its next phase, Twitter creators will also be required to establish a Stripe account, given that Twitter has partnered with Stripe as its designated platform for managing payouts. This requirement will apply to the first cohort of creators who have already registered for creator subscriptions.
