MTN Nigeria, Other Stock Investors Make N440.93 billion In One Day

Nigerian bourse ended Thursday’s trading activities with N29.64 trillion market capitalisation, as it increased by N440.93 billion from the N29.20 trillion it closed Wednesday’s session.

The All-Share Index gained 809.41 basis points to rise from 53,603.8 ASI to 54,413.21 ASI.

About 973.64 million shares, worth N4.22 billion, were traded in 3,718 deals on Thursday.

On Wednesday, investors traded 236.06 million shares in 3,906 deals worth N3.25 billion.

Top five gainers 

  • Oando share appreciated by N0.49kobo to rise from N4.91kobo to N5.40kobo per share 
  • Sunu Assurance grew by 9.09 per cent, up from N0.44kobo to N0.48kobo per share 
  • MTN Nigeria ended trading with N240 from N220.40kobo per share, rising by N19.60kobo. 
  • Consolidated Hallmark Insurance gained 8.77 per cent to end trading at N0.62kobo, having opened with N0.57kobo per share. 
  • Royal Exchange’s stock was up by 8.70 per cent, closing at N0.75kobo from N0.69kobo per share 

Top five losers 

  • PZ depreciated by N0.70kobo, dwindling from N11.90kobo to N11.20kobo per share. 
  • Chams also fell by 4.17 per cent to end trading at N0.23kobo, after opening with N0.24kobo per share. 
  • Unilever followed the same path losing N0.50kobo after trading hours, to sell at N13.50kobo from N14 per share. 
  • Japaul Gold reported a decline of 3.45 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.29kobo to end trading at N0.28kobo per share. 
  • AIICO’s share depreciated to N0.58kobo from N0.60kobo, after losing 3.33 per cent during trading hours.

  • Transcorp reported 455.53 million shares valued at N669.22 million were traded on its floor 
  • Living Trust recorded 254.76 million shares valued at N775.16 million 
  • Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 143.34 million of its shares valued at N746.82 million 
  • UBA recorded 16.09 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N128.72 million 
  • Zenith Bank reported 14.03 million shares, valued at N363.99 million, exchanged investors’ hands
