The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will fix supplementary elections after the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections that will come up on the 11th of March.
The National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee for INEC, Festus Okoye, said this on Thursday.
Okoye noted that the electoral body is aware that elections did not hold in some senatorial districts and federal constituencies and results were not collated. He said that a date will be fixed for election in the affected senatorial districts and federal constituencies after the governorship election as the commission has started to compile the list of all the affected areas.
He further assured Nigerians that the governorship and State Assembly elections will hold on 11th March as scheduled, alongside the postponed elections in Enugu and Edo States.
“The commission assures Nigerians that the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, scheduled for Saturday, 11th March 2023, will hold as scheduled and all the processes and procedures leading to the election are being finalised.

“Furthermore, the commission will conduct the rescheduled elections in Enugu and Edo States on Saturday, 11th March 2023, along with the governorship and State Assembly elections,” he said.
Recall that INEC on the eve of the presidential and national assembly election postponed Enugu East Senatorial election due to the assassination of Labour Party Senatorial candidate, Barr Oyibo Chukwu. Also, elections in Esan Central/Esan West and Igueben Federal Constituencies in Edo State could not hold due to technical issues.
