It is a sad day for the Deputy President of the Senate as a boat conveying members of his campaign Organisation, capsized in Delta State on Tuesday evening.
Announcing suspension of activities, the Omo-Agege Campaign, in subsequent press statement, said the boat capsize, which claimed lives and got many missing and injured, was ”a tragedy too many.”
Join our WhatsApp ChannelAccording to reports, the boat was travelling along the Gbaramatu-Warri River on its return from campaign in Okerenkoko and Ugborodo communities in Warri South Local Government Area when the tragedy occurred.
Ovie Omo-Agege is campaigning to be elected governor of Delta State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.

In a statement released by the Omo-Agege Campaign on Wednesday, the Senator expressed shock at the mishap saying it is “one tragedy too many.”
The campaign Organisation also said they are working with relevant authorities to search for the missing and doing all they can to reach out to the families of the victims.
“We are currently working with the relevant authorities and communities to search for the missing. We are also in the process of reaching out to the families and loved ones of those that lost their lives while ensuring that the injured receive the best care possible.”
The number of persons in the boat is not yet known but reports say that two persons lost their lives, three are missing, and seven others are in hospital receiving treatment.
The campaign Organisation said all campaigns will be put on hold and further steps would be decided in the coming days and weeks.
“We have decided to indefinitely suspend all further campaigns. The Campaign Council will advise on the next steps in the coming days and weeks.”
