Victor EzejaThe United Kingdom Central Criminal Court has adjourned the trial of Nigerian Senator, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice over allegations of organ harvesting to October 31.
Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice are facing charges bordering on conspiracy to facilitate the travel of another person with a view to having his organ harvested.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe trial was earlier scheduled for today by the Westminister Magistrate Court where the defendants were first arraigned after their arrest at Heathrow Airport in June this year.
However, a third individual Obinna Obeta, who is a practising medical doctor in London, appeared alongside the duo. for the trial.
The judge handling the case is billed to hear pretrial applications on the matter on October 31, but the trial will commence fully on May 2, 2023.

Ekweremadu’s wife was granted bail on July 22, but the senator remained in detention. Reports indicate that during the brief trial on Thursday, no application for bail was considered which means that the former deputy president of the Nigerian Senate would continue to be in detention till the October pretrial.
