Commonwealth Games: Nwokocha, Chukwuma, Udo Gabriel Qualify For Women’s 100m Semifinals

Nigeria’s trio of Grace Nwokocha, Rosemary Chukwuma and Jane Udo Gabriel all booked their places in the semifinals of the Women’s 100m in the track and field events of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Tuesday afternoon reports Prime Business Africa.

First of the Nigerian ladies to take to the tracks in Heat 3, Round 1 was Nwokocha who ran a blistering time of 10.99 seconds to win the race.

In Heat 4, Rosemary Chukwuma also won as she finished in 11. 02 seconds to earn qualification to the semifinals.

Jane Udo Gabriel was the quickest off the block but came third in the Heat 5 in 11.43 secs to still qualify for the semifinals in a race eventually won by Michelle Ahye from Trinidad and Tobago in 11.14 seconds.

Tuesday’s timing was the Season’s Best for Udo Gabriel.

The semifinals races will take place later Tuesday afternoon.
