Due to the advent of the COVID19 pandemic, people have become accustomed to flexible work arrangements after social distancing and work from home requirements were put in place during the pandemic.
Shockingly, in the wake of the Great Resignation, also known as the Big Quit and the Great Reshuffle which is an ongoing economic trend where employees voluntarily resigne from their jobs en masse, beginning in early 2021, employees now prefers remote jobs to on-site, office work environment.

According to the Icelandair new research, Kansas City, Missouri in the US has been voted the best place on earth to work remotely.
The city, which is home to around 500,000 people, was one of 150 analysed by the airline, which ranked cities according to how easy, safe and healthy it is to work in them. Factors including internet speeds, quality of life, cost of living, and healthcare were all considered in the ranking, according to the research.
Kansas City was able to beat better-known international hubs like Vienna, Copenhagen, and Wellington to become the world’s best city for accommodating remote workers.
That was reportedly because people are more interested in “slow travel” since the pandemic, Gisli S. Brynjolfsson, Director of Global Marketing at Icelandair, told CNBC.
Cities like New York and LA “aren’t always best when you’re looking to take a step away from the busy hustle of a usual working day,” Brynjolfsson told the outlet.
As well as Kansas City, Vienna, Copenhagen, and Wellington, the top 10 was made up of Edinburgh, Perth, Frankfurt, Brisbane, Helsinki, and Victoria in Canada.
Kansas City sits on Missouri’s western edge, straddling the border with Kansas. It’s known for its barbecue, jazz heritage and fountains. Downtown, the American Jazz Museum shares a building with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, with giant shuttlecocks out front, houses nearly 40,000 works of art, from ancient to contemporary collections.
On the other hand, remote work is the practice of employees doing their jobs from a location other than a central office operated by the employer. Such locations could include an employee’s home, a co-working or other shared space, a private office, or any other place outside of the traditional corporate office building or campus.
