Niger lawmakers pass death sentence law for bandits

Niger State House of Assembly has warned that anyone guilty of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling or giving out information to bandits will be sentenced to death by hanging.

The lawmakers stated that the punishment was contained in the recommendation of the joint committee on security,intelligence and judicial matters presented by the Chairman of the committee,Hon.Bello Ahmed Agwara to the House.

Bello Ahmed, representing Agwara Constituency, maintained that informants were included in the law, because it was discovered that they played key role in activities of banditry in the state.

The committee Chairman,further stressed that those found guilty would be hanged to serve as a deterent to others.
Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly,Bawa Wuse, applauded members of the committee for what he said were their efforts at bringing lasting solution to banditry in the state.

Wuse,directed the Clark of the house to produce copies of the bill for Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s ascent.
