All it took for Nasarawa United to pocket three points was a 25th minute strike by Anas Yusuf in the midweek encounter. It was not just a victory for the Lafia boys; the goal also marked the 14 netted by Anas this season.

In a post-match submission, an elated Salisu Yusuf said “It’s a great result for us today, despite the tight schedules before this game. We only had two days to train because we needed to manage the fatigue,” Yusuf told journalists. “Within those few days, I tried to imprint my game plans into the players. We got our goal through a high press. I think the team has great potential to grow” he enthused.

The Solid Miners who ironically had only 46% possession as against Remo Stars 56% in the encounter are leading the relegation belt and will need to dig deeper to swim out of relegation water. Yusuf who described his mission to Nasarawa as that of rescue from relegation will however have a better test of his team’s readiness to fight for points when they face Abia Warriors away on Sunday.

Meanwhile it will be fireworks all the way on Sunday as twelve matches are lined up across the country, giving local league lovers enough league actions to watch. Kano Pillars have a date with reigning champions Rangers international.
