The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that candidates who lost their SIM cards previously used for registration can now retrieve their profile codes at any Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre nationwide.
JAMB made this known via its official X handle, @JAMBHQ, following concerns from candidates about how to recover their profile codes ahead of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration.

No SIM Swap Option Available
The board emphasised that the SIM SWAP option remains unavailable. Candidates are advised to visit the nearest JAMB-accredited CBT centre to access the new feature for retrieving lost profile codes.
JAMB urged all 2025 UTME and DE applicants to fill out the necessary template at the centres to resolve any issues related to lost SIM cards before the registration deadline.

“On Wednesday, I tried creating my profile code, but I discovered my name was misspelled. I have corrected it at the NIMC office and got a corrected NIN slip. What do I do next? My name hasn’t changed on the profile code,” Stephen asked.
Another candidate, Tukura, shared his difficulties in generating a profile code.
“I have been trying several times, but I am still unable to gain access. I sat for JAMB once in 2020. But despite typing ‘RESEND’, it displays ‘You cannot use the RESEND command because you have not created a profile code’,” he said.
Can A New SIM Card Be Used For JAMB Registration?
A candidate identified as Alhaji Wise asked if he could use a new SIM card to generate a profile code for the 2025 UTME.
“I lost my old number that I used for my previous JAMB. Can I buy a new SIM card registered with my NIN to generate a new profile code?” he asked.
JAMB has not directly addressed whether a new SIM card can be used. However, candidates are encouraged to visit CBT centres for assistance with their registration concerns.
JAMB Announces 2025 UTME Registration And Exam Dates
JAMB has previously announced that registration for the 2025 UTME will begin on January 31, 2025, and end on March 5, 2025.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board said the registration will now commence on Monday, February 3.
JAMB said the postponement became necessary to allow the board implement essential adjustments to its registration templates.
It added that it is further scrutinising some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres after discovering that they had used deceptive facilities to be approved.
During a meeting with media executives in Lagos, JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, confirmed that the 2025 UTME will commence on March 8, 2025, while a mock examination is scheduled for February 23, 2025, for candidates who choose to participate.
JAMB has also emphasised that all candidates must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) during registration.
“The NIN will be used to create a profile code, a prerequisite for the registration process. Candidates are required to send their NIN via text to either 55019 or 66019 to generate the code,” JAMB stated.
