Maiden Ibru Set To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The Publisher of The Guardian, Lady Maiden Ibru, is set to receive Lifetime Achievement Award from ThisDay Awards.

The ThisDay Awards 2025 is taking place today, 27 January at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the THISDAY/ARISE Group, organiser of the event, the honour to Lady Ibru is for her contributions to leadership and entrepreneurship over the years in Nigeria.

She is one of those selected to be honoured at the red carpet event taking place by 5 pm for their service to Nigeria.

THISDAY Awards celebrate excellence in governance, public policy, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Aside from her leadership of The Guardian newspapers, Lady Ibru is also a director of Trinity Foundation, a philanthropic foundation founded by her late husband Alexander Ibru. The foundation provides financial and infrastructural support to institutions and civil society organisations that promote democratic and open society principles.

Lady Ibru, 75, has received a couple of awards and recognitions including “Golden Cross of Welfare” conferred on her by the Greek Parliament in 2007, the Ladyship title of the “cross of saint mark” conferred on her by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria in 2012, and Special Philanthropy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Award given to her in 2014 by CECP-(Nig) Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy. She also got a National award of MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria) in September 2014.
