New Year Shocker: Naomi Osaka, Cordae Part Ways

Two-time Australia and US Open champion, Naomi Osaka, has revealed that she and longtime partner, Cordae, have gone their separate ways for good.

The 27-year-old mother of one, dropped the bomb shell while insisting that the rapper ex-partner was a great guy.

The tennis star and the rapper first began dating in 2019, and welcomed a daughter Shai four years later in the summer of 2023.

However, in a statement posted on  her Instagram page, Naomi informed that she and  Cordae are “no longer in a relationship.”

“No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad,” she continued.

“Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experience together.”

Over the weekend, Osaka reached the final of the ASB Classic in Auckland before retiring due to injury.

She shared the breakup news with fans by posting a statement to her Instagram page.

“All jokes aside, I do really want to thank my team and everyone close to me for having my back and keeping me sane (though that’s debatable LOL), I’m truly very grateful,” she wrote after the tournament on Threads.

“And I do really want to thank my friends all around the world (I think saying fans is a disservice). I’ve always said it feels like we’re going through this journey together and I really hope you’re having as much fun as I am.”

Osaka has continued to round back into form after missing the entirety of the 2023 season on maternity leave.

She upset world No. 10 Jelena Ostapenko in the first round of the US Open, and her run in Auckland was her first final appearance in nearly three years.

The four-time Grand Slam champion is now ranked No. 50 in the world with the Australian Open approaching.

There are no indications that Cordae has commented on the split yet. Cordae does not appear to have commented on his split with Osaka.

Cordae who is a Grammy-nominated artist has collaborated with heavyweights such as Anderson .Paak and Chance the Rapper.

His debut studio album, The Lost Boy (2019), wasn’t just a splash; it was a pop-cultural touchstone, earning two Grammy nods and showcasing hits such as “RNP” and “Bad Idea.”

By the time he dropped his second album, From a Birds Eye View (2022), Cordae had cemented his place as one of hip-hop’s brightest stars, blending introspection with genre-defying beats.

Born Cordae Amari Brooks on August 26, 1997, in North Carolina, and raised in Maryland, he developed a passion for music early on. Briefly attending Towson University, he made the bold move to drop out of college and chase his dreams.

According to reports, he initially released music under the name Entendre and was put on the music map when his remixes of classics like Eminem’s “My Name Is,” proved to be a hit. His time with the YBN collective propelled him further into the spotlight.
