Breaking: Anambra Govt Announces LG Election Date

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has announced that local government elections will hold on Saturday, 28 September 2024.

The Electoral Commission made this known on Monday.

The Electoral Commission which was inaugurated by the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, was charged with the mandate to fix a date for election in the 21 local government areas in the state.

The Commission led by Genevieve Osakwe as the chairman, will perform the functions of organising, and supervising all elections and matters of elections and elective offices in the local government councils in the state.

This development comes 10 years after the last local council election in the state. Past governors had been running the 21 LGAs with caretaker committee chairmen appointed for a period of time.
