Umahi’s Brother Roy Nweze, Ubani, 84 Others Elevated To SAN Rank

The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the elevation of 87 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, (SAN).

The LPPC chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, gave the approval during its 164th Plenary session held on Thursday, 1st August 2024.

This was contained in a statement signed by Hajo Sarki Bello, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria/ Secretary of LPPC, explained that “the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, (SAN), is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.”

Prime Business Africa reports that Roy Nweze Esq, a younger brother of former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi.

Also, among them are Dr Monday Onyekachi Ubani, former Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Developmental Law (NBA-SPIDEL), and Nnodim Marcellinus Duru among others.

According to the statement, one of them who was elevated to SAN, Prof. Ganiu Oke Adeyemi, was an academic applicant.

The statement added that the swearing-in ceremony of the successful applicants is scheduled for Monday, 30 September 2024.
