Victor EzejaPresidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has encouraged Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, not to regret his decision to invest in Nigeria.
Obi said Dangote did the right thing by investing in the productivity, growth, development and progress of the country.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelObi’s comment follows recent statement credited to Africa’s richest man where he reportedly expressed disappointment over challenges he is having with investments in the country, particularly the Dangote Refinery.
Dangote, who claimed that some forces are working to sabotage operations of his 650,000 barrels per day refinery, said one of his wealthy friends who had advised him not to invest in Nigeria is now mocking him following the challenges he is having.
However, in a statement via his verified X handle on Monday, Obi told Dangote not to see his investment in Nigeria as a wrong decision, despite the challenges he is undergoing.
“I want you to know that your friend is wrong. You did the right thing by investing in the productivity, growth, development and progress of our beloved nation, through your many business ventures, irrespective of the challenges and obstacles that now stand in your way, Obi told Dangote. “We are all created to serve humanity,” he added.

The former Anambra State governor said Dangote is strong enough to overcome the challenges and continue to contribute to building a better humanity.
Highlighting the challenges he has faced, Obi said he has lost many things ever since joining public service, which would not have happened if he remained in the private sector.
“From all my savings from abroad which I brought back home, to the businesses I started in Nigeria which were either run aground or taken over by those entrusted with their management, I endured them all.
“Till today, I still face similar challenges where most times one is either being harassed by the government or the same system meant to protect you. But I believe that God kept us for this, and has empowered us to bring positive change and shine the light on the dark areas of our nation.”
Obi therefore encouraged Dangote to remain resilient in the face of the present challenges, not for material gains, but for the development and progress of the country and a better humanity.
“It may have been a long night, but the glorious dawn of our nation shall come eventually, and we will enjoy the New Nigeria we have all laboured for because It is POssible, if we persevere!,” he concluded.
