Innovative Opening Ceremony of 33rd Olympics

The much awaited and anticipated opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympics in Paris is ongoing.

The parade like earlier reported is on taking place on the River Seine with 90 boats on parade. Participating countries are carrying their flags on these magnificent boats.

Team Nigeria like other teams dazzled in their boat as world record holder, Tobi Amusan, carried the Nigerian flag, flag of hope that the team competing in 12 different sports will excel in the coming days.

Meanwhile many who had planned to be physically present to witness the opening ceremony are missing it or watching from large screens in transit after attack by vandals affected speed rail that should have ferried them into Paris.

Hundreds of visitors and even some athletes are reportedly stranded.

Former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami is reportedly among those stranded en-route Paris venue of this year’s Olympics.

Streets in the centre of Paris have been cordoned off, metro stations closed and thousands of police, soldiers and other guards deployed to maintain security on the big showpiece day to kick off the Olympics.

Authorities are however doing everything possible to restore normalcy even security agents have vowed to ensure that vandals already in police net have made to smell the rod.

Latest information indicates that those found guilty risk no fewer than 15 years in jail.

Popular Canadian Singer, Celine Dion, is expected to partner Lady Gaga in the course of the ongoing ceremony.

Recall that the Canadian music super star has been contracted to do one song for $2million. Dion is no stranger to the Olympics.

She kicked off the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, singing “The Power of the Dream.” The ceremony was watched by a record 3.5 billion people around the world.
