BBNaija Season 6 winner, Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney has given reasons for his decision to henceforth focus more attention on promoting his brand of music abroad.

The Songwriter and reality TV star says patronage of his brand of music is low in the country because Nigerians don’t understand his music, adding that his music is more popular abroad than at home.

Whitemoney who has produced a few songs including “Rosemary” (2018), “Your Life” (2018), and “My Heart” (2021) with a single ‘Selense’ is into other businesses including importation.

Whitemoney who had earlier lashed out at local promoters for ignoring his genre of music insists he is in a world of his own in his kind of music.

Whitemoney said his genre of music is ‘Kumkum’, and he does not have a rival in the music industry.

He added, “I’m a king in my lane. For me, nobody rivals my talent. You’re good in your way but me I am the king. That’s why I have my own genre. I don’t do Afrobeats or highlife. My genre is Kumkum.”

Reactions have however trailed Whitemoney’s submission on low patronage of his kind of music. While some genuinely offer advice on the way forward some others wondered how he expects the music to ‘blow’ abroad when it is struggling to make in-road at home.

Vincent Ajei on facebook says “He is right, Nigerians only like to dance to every music they don’t like to listen to lyrics like white money”

Elvis Okpokam said “If Portable can be celebrated in US then Whitemoney will be celebrated all over the world. Go on bro”

But for K Simon Antonio Sadiq is more of warning as he said “Be careful with what you are saying about Nigeria, the same Nigerians made you who you are today,” while Viktore Lawrence in his submission said “Music no blow for your own country, for ur mind na for another country you feel say e go blow! Nija na approving platform when it comes to music. If yu like hear am

Whitemoney who won the 2021 edition of BBNaija, finished 11th in the BBNaija 8 all stars.
