Julius OkorieTwo-term NFF President, Amuju Pinnick, has received a presidential backing in his bid to return to the council of World soccer ruling body FIFA.
A statement signed and dished out by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed strong support for Nigeria’s bid for re-election into the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Council.

The Council comprises 37 members elected by the FIFA Congress for a renewable term of four years.
Pinnick is the third Nigerian to ever sit in the FIFA Council after Oyo Orok Oyo (1980-1988) and Dr. Amos Adamu (2006-2010).

He was elected into the council on 12th March 2021 and bidding for re-election come 2025 when his current tenure expires.
“Mr. Pinnick is seeking re-election into the Council, and President Tinubu supports the bid for Nigeria to retain its seat in the Council,” the statement read.
Prime Business Africa reports that Pinnick defeated Malawian FA president Walter Nyamilandu, who was the incumbent by 43 votes to 8 during the CAF General Assembly held in Rabat, Morocco to flag off his first tenure.
