After 37 weeks battle for points and position on the log, 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League ends today, with ten matches to be played simultaneously across the country.

Some die-hard lovers of the local league, have called today ‘Decisive Sunday’ while others have chosen to go with the usual ‘Super Sunday’, when heavy weight matches are lined up.

Rangers are the only team heading into today’s match with full rest of mind after clinching the league title on one hand and pocketing of the CAF Champions League ticket on the other even with a match to spare.

The Flying Antelopes take on already relegated Gombe United at the Jos Township Stadium, in what could be considered an inconsequential tie for the Coal City boys.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, among other dignitaries, are expected to storm Jos today for the Gombe versus Rangers clash. The League top shots will be presenting the league title officially to Rangers at the end of the match

Other dignitaries expected at the game are NPFL chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Gbenga Elegbeleye and Davidson Owumi, alongside top officials of the NFF and the NPFL.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his boys sealed the NPFL title with a game in hand after their closest rivals, Remo Stars, lost 2-1 to Sunshine Stars, and Enyimba Football Club, lost 2-1 to Sporting Lagos, on matchday 37.

Today is not just about formal confirmation of Rangers as league champions but will also confirm relegated teams who will now play in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season.
