Speaking about the possibility of receiving jail time or home detention at his sentencing on July 11 In an interview aired on Fox News, Trump stated, “I’m ok with it,” but added, “I’m not sure the public would stand for it.”

Trump, now convicted of a felony, will be running for the presidency again. He has made it clear that he will not accept the election result if he loses to President Joe Biden. This stance further inflames an already tense political climate.

A New York jury recently convicted Trump on all 34 felony charges of falsifying business records during the 2016 presidential campaign to cover up a sex scandal involving porn star Stormy Daniels. This marks the first criminal conviction of a former president in U.S. history. Although each charge carries a possible four-year jail term, experts believe it is unlikely that Trump will receive a custodial sentence.
Trump faces three other criminal trials, including one related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. His supporters infamously stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, following his speech urging the crowd to “fight like hell.”
Breaking her silence after Trump’s conviction, Stormy Daniels expressed that the former president should be imprisoned. “I think he should be sentenced to jail and some community service working for the less fortunate or being the volunteer punching bag at a women’s shelter,” Daniels said in an interview with The Mirror. Daniels, who had been exchanging insults with Trump on social media for years, now feels “vindicated” but admitted she was “shocked” at the jury’s swift verdict.
Daniels also criticised Trump, accusing him of being “completely and utterly out of touch with reality” and likening him to a child. Her testimony during the trial included graphic descriptions of a casual sexual encounter in 2006, which prosecutors said took place shortly after Trump’s wife Melania had given birth.
“Being in court was so intimidating with the jurors looking at you,” Daniels recounted, adding that she was glad her truth had been proven. “It’s not over for me. It’s never going to be over for me. Trump may be guilty, but I still have to live with the legacy.”
In his Fox News interview, Trump discussed the toll the trial had taken on his family, especially his wife, who was notably absent from the court proceedings. “She’s fine, but I think it’s very hard for her,” Trump said. “She has to read all this crap.” Melania Trump has largely stayed out of the spotlight, not participating in her husband’s current White House campaign and rarely appearing in public with him.
As the sentencing date approaches, the nation watches closely, aware of the potential for heightened tensions and political unrest.
