One Year In Office: APC Calls On Nigerians To Support Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to support  President Bola Tinubu’s administration to achieve significant success in the remaining years of his tenure.

The party made the call in a statement signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. The party commended President Tinubu for the strides his administration has made in the last one year.

The party expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their support towards the party as well as APC-led administration over the year, praising President Tinubu for his dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda. “We applaud Mr. President for keeping faith with the Renewed Hope Agenda, striving with unmatched zeal and vigor to deliver on his cardinal electoral promise to oversee the full restoration and revitalization of all aspects of our country’s social, political, and economic life,” part of the statement read.

The party noted the President’s efforts in addressing deep-seated challenges and his bold reforms aimed at revitalizing the nation’s social, political, and economic sectors.

The party further, said one of the notable actions taken by President Tinubu was the termination of the fuel subsidy regime which it described as crucial for Nigeria’s economic stability. Also, the harmonization of the multiple foreign exchange regimes to address economic growth impediments.

It listed other significant reforms to include the establishment of the Presidential Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy Reform headed by Taiwo Oyedele, reconstituting the leadership of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and directing the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to remit its dollar earnings to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

It further praised the present  administration’s efforts to attract foreign investments it described as unparalleled, with tens of billions of US dollars invested in the economy within the first year. “Investment in Nigeria stock market has ballooned from N18 billion in Q1 of 2023 to N98 billion in Q1 of 2024, an increase of 415 percent, just as the nation’s annual economic growth accelerated to 3.46 percent from 2.5 percent.”

The also highlighted the Tinubu administration’s efforts in infrastructural development such road construction, among others.

“This President of progress has also left an incredible first year footprint on high grade infrastructure delivery not only in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, but around the country. The recently flagged off 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will create jobs and boost tourism and economic development on completion. After decades of abandonement, the Sokoto-Badagry super-highway is now set to become a reality. The Abuja Metro rail; Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri rail; Ibadan-Abuja-Kaduna rail; Kano-Katsina-Maradi rail, and hundreds of roads and bridges across the federation are some of the landmark projects on the plate of this government.”

 

It added that the present administration has also focused on boosting food security, reforming the security sector, and increasing funding for healthcare. Despite acknowledging the challenges and pains associated with some of these policies, APC said President Tinubu remains committed to laying the foundation for Nigeria’s growth and development.

The party listed other Initiatives rolled out by the presidency to support citizens’ welfare which include the introduction of Credit Corps, student loans, wage awards, ongoing salary review negotiations, conditional cash transfers, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, youth upskilling with $617 million, and grants to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which many Nigerians has been benefiting from.

While expressing confidence in a brighter future for Nigeria, the party thanked citizens for their patience and support, and reaffirming President Tinubu’s commitment to a stronger, safer, and more vibrant nation.
