INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY: Group Protests Rock Lagos, Abuja

GROUP of Protesters under the auspices of #TakeItBack Movement and #RevolutionNow were seen matching on streets of Lagos and Abuja on Friday carrying placards demanding resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari and release of the activist, Omoyele Sowore.

In Lagos, the protesters stormed the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota to express their displeasure over rising level of insecurity, poverty, lawlessness/instability and other challenges in Nigeria.

At Abuja, protesters were in the streets demanding resignation of President Buhari. They displayed banners and placards with inscriptions that read, ‘Buhari Must Go,’ ‘Free Sowore Unconditionally,’ ‘Stop recruiting terrorists into the Nigerian Army,’ and among other descriptions of their demands.

The #RevolutionNow group, had issued a statement announcing its plan to protest on the 61st Independence Anniversary Day.
