Liverpool and Manchester City played out a riveting 1-1 draw on Sunday at Anfield which was huge benefit to Arsenal who remains top of the Premier League ahead of the Reds on goal difference albeit both teams are on 64 points, Prime Business Africa reports.

The draw also means that Pep Guardiola and his players have not secured a win in 21 visits to Anfield and more instructively this could be the last confrontation between Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp who has revealed that he is set to quit as the Reds’ boss.

City seemed the side poised to get on the scoresheet despite the boisterous Anfield crowd bellowing from the stands.

Caoimhín Kelleher denied Julián Álvarez and Kevin De Bruyne inside the opening 10 minutes of the contest while Darwin Nunez went close at the other end.

John Stones however put the Cityzens ahead in the 23rd minute as he pounced on the ball at the near post from a corner kick.

Liverpool restored parity in the second half through a penalty converted by Alexis McAllister after Ederson in goal for City brought Nunez who bore down at goal following a sloppy back pass from Nathan Åke.

Both sides feverishly sought a winning goal but could not break down the other with Mohamed Salah the closest to finding the back of the net.
