King Charles III Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer After Less Than 12 Month On The Throne

Buckingham Palace revealed on Monday that King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, adding a new layer of concern following his recent hospital visit for a corrective procedure on an enlarged prostate.

The palace statement disclosed that during the benign prostate enlargement procedure, a separate issue of concern was identified, leading to subsequent diagnostic tests confirming the presence of cancer.

While Buckingham Palace did not provide specific details about the type and stage of the cancer, the monarch has already commenced a schedule of regular treatments. The statement emphasized that King Charles III would temporarily postpone public-facing duties but would continue to manage state affairs and official paperwork during the treatment period.

The decision to share the diagnosis, according to the statement, was driven by the king’s desire to prevent speculation and contribute to public understanding of cancer. Expressing gratitude to his medical team for swift intervention, King Charles III remains positive about his treatment and eagerly anticipates returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

The news comes just a week after both King Charles III and Catherine, Princess of Wales, were discharged from a private London clinic following their respective medical procedures. The 42-year-old Princess underwent surgery on January 17 for an abdominal issue.

King Charles III ascended to the throne in May 2023 after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. The royal family, along with 4,000 British and Commonwealth troops, participated in a grand ceremony marking his ascent. Despite the health challenges, the monarch remains steadfast in his commitment to serve the public.
