Nigerian Govt Declares December 25, 26, January 1 As Public Holiday

In a bid to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and usher in the New Year, the Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Interior, has announced public holidays on December 25, 26, 2023, and January 1, 2024.

This declaration, aimed at commemorating the festive season, was warmly extended to all citizens by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, on behalf of the Federal Government.

Beyond the joyous celebrations, Dr. Tunji-Ojo used this occasion to felicitate with Christians across the country and Nigerians globally.

Encouraging citizens to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ, he emphasized the values of humility, service, compassion, and patience as pivotal principles to emulate during this period.

Assuring the populace of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, he urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals to the security agencies.

Moreover, with an eye toward the future, Tunji-Ojo highlighted the optimism for a promising 2024 under the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Encouraging citizens to stay focused and disciplined, he expressed the belief that the upcoming year would usher in better prospects for all.
