In a move to combat an international scam, Amazon has initiated legal action against, REKK, for allegedly orchestrating a refund scam that targeted the e-commerce giant, leading to millions in losses.

The lawsuit, filed in a U.S. District Court in Washington, implicates approximately 30 individuals from six countries, including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Greece, Lithuania, and the Netherlands, in a scheme involving deceitful refund requests without returning purchased items.

Amazon detailed over a dozen fraudulent transactions between June 2022 and May 2023, encompassing various high-value products, from electronics like gaming consoles, smartphones, and laptops, to even a 24-karat gold coin.

This legal action underscores the ongoing battle Amazon faces in safeguarding its platform from fraudulent activities while broadening its services.

Despite investing billions and employing thousands to combat theft and fraud, incidents like these highlight the challenges the company encounters while expanding its offerings, such as the recent trial of a monthly unlimited grocery delivery subscription for Prime members in select U.S. cities.
