Emmanuel OchayiNiger Delta Students Union Government (NIDSUG) has pledged its support for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its fight against economic and financial crimes.
This announcement came during a visit to the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelLed by its President, Comrade Scott Ogunseri, the NIDSUG delegation expressed their commitment to partnering with the EFCC to combat cybercrime and other forms of corruption prevalent among students.
Ogunseri emphasized the need for sustained efforts to reduce the involvement of students in cybercrime. He stated, “We have designed plans for the students’ community in our region and decided to come up with a security summit to campaign against social vices, especially cybercrime.”
He added, “We understand that students and youths are guilty of this offense, and it pains us that they indulge in such acts. So, we felt it would be nice for us to keep the campaign running. And we are sure with this project, we will be able to reduce the number of students involved in cybercrime.”

Mohammed Hammajoda, Secretary to the Commission, commended the initiative by the students and encouraged their continued dedication to supporting the EFCC’s fight against corruption.
He said, “What you are doing is very important and commendable. Thank God that, at your level, you can identify these vices and note them to be bad for the development of this country.”
Hammajoda assured the students of the EFCC’s assistance with resource persons whenever possible during their campaigns against cybercrime.
In a separate event, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, urged students worldwide to actively participate in the anti-corruption fight. He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the detrimental effects of corruption on society.
Addressing students from Purplins School Mararraba, Nasarawa State, Olukoyede stressed, “Preach to them the ills and the damage every little act of corruption does to our economy and our country. The fight against corruption should involve every patriotic citizen.”
Officials from various units of the EFCC, including Chris Oluka, Aisha Mohammed, and Chief Superintendent Daniel Nwaka, reiterated the significance of the youth’s role in combating corruption. They emphasized the need for attitudinal change and resistance to using cyberspace for criminal activities.
The EFCC continues to advocate for youth involvement in the fight against corruption, recognizing their pivotal role as future leaders in shaping a corruption-free nation.
