Furthermore, they apprehended 51 individuals involved in these criminal activities and eliminated four criminals while seizing various weapons and ammunition.

Maj.-Gen. Buba reiterated the military’s commitment to upholding security and curbing illicit activities in the region. “Our efforts are geared towards putting an end to these unlawful practices,” he declared.

The Defense Headquarters’ latest triumphs in their battle against illegal oil activities align with a broader effort.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reiterated its resolve to halt crude oil theft in the country. During a presentation at the Federation Account Allocation Committee Retreat in Delta State, Mele Kyari, the GCEO of NNPC Ltd., highlighted the imperative nature of this mission.

“We are resolute in our commitment to eradicating crimes that threaten our nation’s energy security,” emphasized Kyari, stressing the significance of collaboration across the industry to combat this issue.

Kyari’s representation by NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Financial Officer, Umar Ajiya, showcased the company’s stance against criminal activities impacting the country’s oil sector.

The focus remains on preventing both crude oil theft and pipeline damage, aiming to bolster the country’s oil production, increase revenues, and fortify economic growth.

The joint efforts of the military and oil sector stakeholders underscore a stride towards safeguarding Nigeria’s resources and enhancing its overall prosperity.
