Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has predicted that Tyson Fury will beat Oleksandr Usyk in the blockbuster heavyweight fight scheduled for 17 February 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Tyson was Francis Nganou’s trainer when the Cameroonian made his professional debut in boxing.

The former UFC champion was defeated in split decision by Tyson Fury when both men faced off recently in Saudi Arabia but attention has shifted to the grudge fight which was initially slated for December 23.

Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren at the time, told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Tyson can’t be going into a camp after a tough fight like that. That’s eight weeks away.”

Ahead of the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO, WBC unification fight, Tyson spoke to Fight Hub TV on what to expect, insisting that the Gypsy King will overpower Usyk.

“Hey, we should [not focus on what Fury did against Ngannou], but you have to understand he is still the champion,” he told the boxing website.

“He made that night a great night. He gave Francis the opportunity and that was just a bad night at the office for him, we all have bad nights, and listen, that was his bad night,” Tyson enthused.

“I look forward to that fight (between Fury and Usyk). That is going to be an interesting fight, but I’m going towards Tyson Fury because I think he’s just going to overpower him – he’s going to catch up with him and overpower him.

“I got to go with Fury, I think he’s the best fighter in the world, especially in the heavyweight division. Great fighters lose, great fighters look bad, [but] that doesn’t stop them from being great fighters.”

Fury has a record of 34-0-1 while Usyk has fought 21 times winning all with 14 of them coming via knockouts.

Tickets for the Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk fight are already on sale.
