Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih took the stage to unveil investments through Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, boasting a wealth of over $700 billion. Al-Falih described these investments as “game-changing” and pledged to contribute to Africa’s growth and development.

Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman inked initial agreements focusing on energy collaboration with Nigeria, Senegal, Chad, and Ethiopia. These agreements underscore the kingdom’s commitment to fostering cooperation and investment in energy initiatives across the African continent.

The Saudi-Arab-African Economic Conference, aiming to strengthen partnerships in economic and investment sectors, will focus on vital areas such as food security, agricultural, industrial, and mining ties, as well as expanding commercial partnerships.

The goal is to build stronger economic collaboration between Saudi Arabia and African nations.

This move follows a similar commitment by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which pledged $4.5 billion to support clean energy initiatives in Africa during the Africa Climate Summit in Kenya on September 5.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, President-Designate of COP28, outlined the initiative’s focus on channeling investments into African countries with well-defined strategies for transitioning to clean energy.

The collective efforts aim to drive the adoption of clean energy solutions and support Africa’s sustainable development while addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
