The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has pledged the Nigerian Government’s commitment to allocate 25% of the nation’s annual budget to education.
Speaking at the launch of a €40m education and youth empowerment initiative by the European Union, Mamman harped on the consequence of neglecting education.

“This commitment aims to enhance the quality of education and address the pressing issue of out-of-school children.”
Furthermore, Mamman emphasized the importance of prioritizing education and youth empowerment, calling upon state governors to align their efforts with the government’s vision.
He revealed that the education sector roadmap of the President Bola Tinubu administration would soon be unveiled, aligning with the objectives of the European Union in revitalizing the sector.
The Minister’s perspective centers on addressing the challenges faced by out-of-school children and empowering girls.
His words, “Our focus is shifting to basic education, out-of-school children, adolescent girls who need to be trained and empowered. If our youths are not properly catered for, trained, and empowered, we are toying with the future of the country. Neglecting them will allow poverty to grow and insecurity to foster.”
