The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) is partnering with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Research, Technology and Innovation Division (NNPC RTI) to spearhead a new era of transportation by unveiling its plan to develop Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion technology for automobiles and commercial tricycles.

This is geared towards reducing the country’s dependence on petrol in the transportation sector.

Speaking ahead of the Institute’s third Biennial International Conference on Hydrocarbon Science and Technology in Abuja, Dr. Adimula emphasized their commitment to equipping the oil and gas industry with essential manpower and technology.

“We have developed concepts and provided training to skilled workers in modular refining capacity to ensure their operations have minimal environmental impact,” he stated.

Dr. Adimula further revealed, “We’ve not just conceptualized this technology; we have it ready. Our institute has the blueprints, fabricated parts, and expertise. Now, we’re gearing up to make it commercially viable.

The upcoming conference, themed ‘The Future of the Oil and Gas: Opportunities, Challenges, and Development,’ will serve as a platform for PTI to showcase major research outcomes, in collaboration with NNPC RTI, NNPC Academy, Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), and the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO).

The event promises to shed light on the promising future of the oil and gas sector and the innovative strides being taken to shape it.
