Nigeria To Know AFCON Opponents Thursday As CAF Holds Group Stage Draw

Nigeria’s group opponents at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivorie early next year will be made known this Thursday as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) holds the final draw for the 33rd edition of the ‘African mundial in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles are three-time African champions after their last triumph in 2013 when South Africa hosted.

The event on Thursday is expected to be attended by Africa’s biggest footbdl stars, showbiz celebrities, football leaders, global media, CAF Family and commercial partners.

According to the CAF Media channel, the draw will be held at 8pm Nigerian time and will be broadcast live by CAF’s YouTube channel and on CAF’s global TV planters.

The event, to be beamed in over 50 countries, will be hosted at Parc des Expositions in Abidjan, one of the most iconic and impressive buildings in Cote d’Ivoire’s economic hub.

The Final tournament will kick off on 13 January 2024 with the Final game scheduled for 11 February 2024.

On Tuesday, CAF will start revealing some key individuals involved during the Final Draw, including Draw Hosts, Draw Assistants, and notable musical and cultural performers.

CAF and the host Nation, Côte d’Ivoire, have been working together to produce a world-class event for the Final Draw.

The Africa Cup of Nations is watched by over 500 million people in over 150 countries – making it the biggest event to be staged on African soil and amongst the biggest sporting events.

The 100-day countdown to the tournament began last week Thursday.

The Qualified teams for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations are:

Côte d’Ivoire (hosts), Senegal (current champions), Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo DR, Egypt,Equatorial Guinea, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
