Bola Tinubu of the APC party has been declared winner of the Presidential race by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He won about 37 per cent of the votes, the electoral commission said, while Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) drew 29 per cent and Peter Obi of the Labour Party took 25.5 per cent.

Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi came second and third respectively in a contest that saw both of them win in 12 states each, just like the President-elect, Tinubu.

According to INEC’s data, 93.5 million eligible voters registered to participate in the election, out of which only 25.3 million participated and had their votes count.

A total of 18 presidential candidates contested the election held across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Saturday.
