Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup was not harmed adversely on Friday night at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi as they played out a goalless draw against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Ghanaians put the Eagles under intense pressure for 90 minutes albeit both sides had chances to score which were not converted.

Nigeria had a penalty call in the second half overruled after the VAR spotted a foul in the buildup to a handball inside the Ghana penalty area.

The return leg of the fixtures will be played at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Tuesday evening.
